Summer homework
Read, read, read!
Reading consistently and practicing the skills gained during the school year is the best thing you can do for you. Read for a minimum of 30 minutes each day. As you read, remember to:
- Have a balanced reading diet. Make sure you are reading books from different genres.
- Have conversations about your book before you move onto the next.
- Set goals and keep track of your progress. No one knows you as a reader more than you! Do you need to work on your stamina? Working out tricky words?
- Be metacognitive! Think about your thinking and leave tracks of it (using symbols and words). Use post-its or a journal to record your ideas about characters, structure, genre, plot, and the authors style. Use the questions below to help you dig deep within each book!
If you like to keep track of the books you are reading, download one of the reading logs below or create your own!
